The highlight for any golfer. Walk in the footsteps of legends and make your own lifelong memories. Embrace the nerves on the 1st tee and knock one down the middle. 4 hours later you’ll be walking up 17 and 18 and the hairs will be standing up on the back of your neck as you emulate the golfing Gods.
Day 15: Play Kingsbarns
A truly stunning masterpiece is considered by many to be best course in Scotland. Sea views from every hole and signature holes reminiscent of Pebble Beach. This is a must! Why not include the Kingsbarns Whiskey Distillery Tour which is next door?
Day 16: Play Dumbarnie
The course opened in 2020 to huge acclaim. There is a real possibility that the Scottish Open may be held in the coming years and it would be a worthy host. Every hole feels separate and individual. This is a seriously great golf course.
Day 17: Play Muirfield
A masterpiece by Old Tom Morris and Harry Colt. It has hosted 16 Open Championships and is simply beautiful.
Day 18: Play Carnoustie
Who can forget Jean Van De Veld’s infamous collapse at the 1999 Open Championship? This classic links course was designed by Old Tom Morris and Allan Robertson in 1842 and includes Ben Hogan, Gary Player and Tom Watson amongst its illustrious list of Open champions. The finishing 3 holes are brutal but the course is simply a masterpiece.
After golf travel to Inverness.
Day 19: Play Nairn GC
Formed in 1887 Nairn is regularly named in the list of Scotland’s top courses. It has a rich pedigree and has been host to numerous major amateur events. Old Tom Morris and James Braid both lent their hand to shape the course we play today. It runs along the Moray Firth where you often see Dolphins feeding on the incoming salmon.
Day 20: Play Castle Stuart
A stunning design along the waters of the Morray Firth, the rugged and natural landscape is formed from huge swathes of gorse, broom, heather and sea marram. Manicured fairways and greens are complimented by the natural rugged vegetation. Castle Stuart was home to The Scottish Open on 4 occasions and is a ‘must’ when visiting the highlands.
Day 21: Play Royal Dornoch
This Old Tom Morris masterpiece is in every respected ‘World’s Top 10 Courses’ and for good reason. If it wasn’t so remote it would have undoubtedly held many Open Championships. In May till July you will see the bright yellow gorse in full majestic bloom. It frames the holes and compliments the emerald green fairways, golden beaches and azure blue sea. This is without doubt the best course in the highlands.

The venue for the first 12 Open Championships, Prestwick is really quite unique. Originally a 12-hole course, it was extended to 18 holes in 1882. The first hole, like so many classic links courses, runs alongside the railway line. The fairway tapers at 200 yards so leave the driver in the bag!
