The Home of Golf – St Andrews
Every golfers dream is to visit the home of golf, St Andrews. With its 600 years of golf history nowhere else really compares and with twelve courses within a 20 min drive its no wonder people come back for more.
The Old Course needs no introduction and there is no doubt it is the most famous golf course in the world. However, St Andrews is also home to many more great courses such as the New Course (the oldest ‘new’ course in the world), the Castle Course and the Jubilee Course. Nearby are Kingsbarns, Dunbarnie and Crail which offer dramatic links golf with spectacular views.
The town of St Andrews is definitely ‘Disneyland for golfers’ with amazing pubs and restaurants. You can walk around the entire town in about 1 hour and see the historic architecture including the 900 year old Castle and Cathedral as well as the beautiful University buildings. There is a real ‘buzz’ to the town with golfers mingling with locals and swapping stories with other golfers at the bar, usually about that missed birdie putt!
